America in Distress

Hi, and welcome to the podcast. I’m Adam Repley, the avatar for the Beyond the Rituals community. If you are a first-time listener, welcome to the program. If you are a returning listener, welcome back!

This past weekend, in less than twenty-four hours, mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio left thirty-one people dead and more than fifty injured. The Beyond the Rituals community mourns the loss of those who died, hope for a speedy recovery for those who were injured, and express our condolences to their families and friends.

As always, after incidents such as these, we look for a reason. Why did the person do this, we ask? What could have driven someone to commit such a vile and heinous act?

We investigate, but at best, any reason we decide upon is mostly speculative. Was the shooter a racist? Terrorist? Black? White? Christian? Muslim? A disgruntled employee? Even if the person who committed the crime survives, as is the case in El Paso, we cannot be sure if what they subsequently tell us about their motives, is the truth.

There are many countries around the world, where people are being killed, injured, and oppressed every day. Social instability is not limited to the United States. However, my focus in this podcast will be limited to a problem that is profoundly divisive and unique to America.

Today’s subject: The Nationalization of Evangelical Christianity. How Politics, Racism, and Hypocrisy, Threaten the Social Stability of America.

So, let’s get started!
